Irish Academy to publish second book

Following the success of their first publication, Irelands first make-up book 'Look Good Feel Good', The Irish Academy of Beauty have started work on their second publication 'Starting a business in the beauty industry'. The publication will be initially developed for distribution via the web with the long term aim of reaching mainsteam bookstores. It will cover all the main aspects of starting a business in the beauty industry with an emphasis on working from home or mobile. Author of the book and principal at the Academy Derek O kelly say's " The publication will be unique with a totally different angle than many of the 'start your own business' books on the market which can be very technical.  I will also be asking  business owners, and therapists working from home or mobile, to contribute stories of their experiences of starting and running a business." The book has already started and you can read the first articles on the 'Academy blog',and you can also contribute your story via the 'Academy forum' in the 'business' category. The blog and forum are both located at  www.beautycourses.ie.   

 

IAB partner with Liz Mckeon.

The Irish Academy of Beauty have partnered with beauty business expert Liz Mckeon. Liz will assist the Academy in developing business related modules and support mechanisims for its students and graduates. Liz will also be working with the Academy to deliver similar education throughout the beauty industry. The partnership will bring together a wealth of experience and knowledge and is another milestone in the IAB's strategy to maintain their reputation as industry leaders.   

 

IAB graduation - A night to remember

The Irish Academy of Beauty celebrated a memorable evening with it's biggest graduation ball to date. Almost 250 graduates, family, and friends, attended what has become one of the most glamorous events on the South/West Dublin social calender. TV presenter and editor of Glow magazine, Laura Bermingham was on hand to present the graduates with their cerficates. The ceremony is a tribute to efforts of the 120 students who completed international awards in Beauty therapy , Make-up and Massage. The Academy has established itself as one of the leading providers of beautician and complimentary therapy education, with applicants travelling from around the country to study at their college.

 

 

Irish Academy of Beauty publish Irelands first Make-Up book

The Irish academy of Beauty celebrated one of it's biggest milestones with the  launch of Irelands first make-up book. 

The glamorous event, at the Wesbury hotel in Dublin, celebrated the publication of 'Look Good Feel Good' , a make-up book to help build your confidence and was attended by a host of celebrities and leading figures from the world of media. Attendees included Ronan and Yvonne Keating who officialy launched the book, Expose's Ashling O' loughlin, Stellar magazine, Social & Personal magazine, 98fm, Irish Independant, the Star and the Irish Times. The book was co-authored by Rhona Cullinan head of make at the Irish Academy, and principal Derek Okelly and it now positions the Academy as one of the most credable Make-Up colleges in the country. Interest in the Academies Make-up Courses, which are directed by Rhona Cullinan, author and award winning Make-up artist, have now soared.

The book, which has recieved excellent reviews, is an excellent guide to Make-up with lots of tips and information on skincare , make-up and beauty. It also contains the stories of six amazing women (two cancer patients) who used Make-up to help transform their lives. Proceeds from the sale of the book are been donated to the Marie Keating foundation. The 'Look Good Feel Good' book costs just €9.99 and is available from Easons, Hughes & Hughes, Arnotts, Unicare pharmacies and a host of Salons throughout the country. The IAB and Marie Keating foundation would like to thank all the salon owners who have supported the publication to date.

Irish Academy recieve FETAC accreditation

The IAB reached another milestone on Thursday the 18th of June in the Gresham hotel Dublin when they recieved FETAC accreditation.

The award was presented by minister for lifelong learning Mr Sean Haughey and executives from FETAC, to directors Derek O Kelly and Veronica Clinton, and finance director Breda Deegan. The award follows almost two years of preparatory work and is formal recognition that the academies standards are on par with department of education systems and procedures. The new accreditation will enable The Academy to tailor nationally accredited awards for the beauty and complimentary sector in the areas of business, management and personal developement. It will also enbale them to deliver the FETAC level six Train The Trainer award.
