The Irish Academy was established in 1995 and specialised in the delivery of massage programmes under the ITEC awards system. The Irish Academy progressed over the years and by the year 2002 were one of the biggest providers of massage programmes in the country with five training centres in Dublin and surrounding areas. Throughout this growth we focused on quality training and customer support. We were the first college in Ireland to provide students with dvds, cds and support outside of course hours and have become synomous with quality programmes and tuition.
Our policy has been to continually invest in research and development to provide the best service possible. In 2003 we started a research process analysing training standards in the beauty industry. Following this research process we invested in new premises, staff and equipment, and in 2005 launched our first BEAUTICIAN TRAINING programme under the ITEC awards system. The company now consists of 7 staff members dedicated to customer support, curriculum development and research. Our new state of the art training facility on the Naas Road Dublin 12 has enabled us to reach new levels of quality with a variety of beautician and massage related programmes on our curriculum.
In March 2007 we reached another milestone with the addition of the ITEC teaching diploma at our college (First ITEC college in the world to offer this service). This enabled us to conduct our own in house teacher training and produce quality teachers for the industry. We are also be the first college in Ireland to produce make-up, massage and skincare dvds for our students.
Due to the phenomenal demand for our beautician and massage programmes we will also be extending our training facilities in the coming months. This will enable us to provide a wider variety of programmes and launch a sister company, BEAUTYME to meet the demand for products and other related services. We will initially supply a range of cosmetics, make-up brushes, beauty related dvds and free beauty and health tips through the BEAUTYME company and website.
The Irish Academy adhere to the highest of standards possible and are the first company in their industry to develop an in-house teacher training programme ensuring all trainers have industry standard teaching qualifications.
Management and staff are also committed to continual development through The Small Firms Association centre of excellence, the Enterprise Boards and the Plato Business Training Programme.
The company is also in the process of applying for FETAC accreditation at their Academy.
The Academy is also regulated and monitored by ITEC, the largest international examination board of its kind.
ITEC assessors visit the Academy twice a year to conduct examinations and ensure compliance with their international standards.
The ITEC standards are recognised world wide (almost 600 colleges at time of writing) and accepted by employers and insurers. More recently, the ITEC standard has been accepted by employers and insurers.
Internal standards at the Academy are also of the highest quality, with curriculum development and teaching practices continually under review.
They are the first Academy in the massage and beauty industry to supply students with audio and visual aids for home study, and to also offer students support outside of course hours.
No other college in the industry has committed as many resources to ensure the delivery of quality standards and programmes.

The following information is designed to assist you with the most frequently asked questions that we receive from persons applying for our courses.
(Q). Why should I train at the Irish Academy?
(A). The Irish Academy is an international accredited training academy that delivers a wide range of beauty related courses and services for those at the start of their careers right up to business owners. It is a family run business established more than 13 years and its mission is to provide life changing opportunities through training and education. We have established ourselves as Irelands No 1 academy for massage and beauty education, with a service that is unrivalled in the industry.
(Q). What would be a typical profile of someone who trains at the Irish Academy?
(A). Many of the people who train at the Irish Academy would have full time or part time jobs. Many would also have families, and would be looking to develop another skill set to supplement their income or change career. But nearly all have one thing in common; they care. They care about those around them and they care about those who have embarked on a similar educational journey. This lends itself to a very positive learning environment.
(Q). Will it be like going back to school?
(A). No. Many people (for various reasons) have a negative experience from their school days. At The Irish Academy we value and respect all learners. Your learning experience should be a lot more positive as you will be studying for something that you are passionate about, and will be surrounded by like minded learners. Also, our tutors are the best in the country, with vast experience in training adult learners.
(Q). Will I get support?
(A). Yes. The Irish Academy has an unrivalled track record in supporting learners through their studies. We provide support outside of course hours (Mon to Fri 9 to 5) with management and tutors on hand to provide guidance and answer questions. With more than 13 years experience of helping learners through their studies, The Irish Academy have established themselves as Ireland’s No 1 provider for massage and Beautician education.
(Q). I haven’t studied in years; will this matter?
(A). Many of the people who have successfully completed our programmes were mature learners. They would have re-entered education after many years absence and adapted their lifestyles to start studying again and their determination for self development, has overcome all obstacles. Also, our courses are designed with the beginner in mind, and require no prior knowledge or qualifications. Our academy has become synonymous with catering for the needs of person’s returning to education with teaching methods and support unrivalled in the industry.
(Q). Do you need to be young and glamorous to work in the beauty industry?
(A). No. The beauty industry is staffed, managed, and owned by many different types of people. If you think of some everyday examples like the large department stores with cosmetic and skincare counters, or your average salon, or your hotel with beauty and spa facilities, or your local pharmacy which supplies cosmetics; you will notice that a large proportion of staff are not young and glamorous. The iconic fashion and cosmetic queen Coco Chanel once said “Beauty knows no age limits; nor shape, nor size, nor colour, nor creed”.
(Q). I’ve always wanted to do something like this but wasn’t sure if I would be able?
(A). The above “self doubt” question is rooted in a culture that has never encouraged us to succeed. However, times are changing, and with a little encouragement and soul searching, people who apply for our courses seem to have a new belief in their ability to overcome barriers and achieve life long ambitions.
(Q). I am not sure if I would have the time?
(A). While it has to be accepted that time can be precious in our modern day life; it is also something that can be rearranged to suit our motivational needs. With a little bit of forward planning and reorganisation many of the participants who complete our programmes have engineered the time to pursue their ambitions. Determination, motivation and a willingness to succeed can overcome most time limitation factors.
(Q). What are the opportunities when I finish my training?
(A). There are many career, employment and business opportunities when you finish your training. Also, many graduates have commented on how it improved their confidence and self esteem, and opened up opportunities they never thought possible. Progressing your career in beauty is no different than any other career, and with continuous practice and development, can present many exciting and glamorous opportunities.
(Q). What if I need more information?
(A). If you require any more information please phone 01-4089769
